In the second section we attempts to lay out a way towards a wider analytical understanding of spatial visions through a discussion of it. ![]() The first section of the paper present and discuss the forms and contents of spatial vision, its aims and scales, and the methodology of spatial visions. The research approach argue that these two approaches have to be combined in order to be able to create a fuller understanding of spatial visions role and importance in planning, especially strategic planning, today. The research that exists, focus either on the practical use of visions in strategic planning, or on a critical reading of spatial visions, its power implications and so on. However, spatial visions are still today not very well researched within the academic world. To some degree, my interest overlaps the research focus in Critical Management Studies (CMS), especially on issues like work-place subjectification and employee discipline-and-surveillance. Discourses about the “experience economy”, “service encounter” and particular “servicescapes” have caught my interest. On the Department of Service Management, my research interests has broadened, through an additional interest in the spatiality of the service economy. I paid special attention to how political and economic interests strive to create a “Europe on speed”, that is, through different infrastructure projects build a “faster Europe”. I studied how the spatial visions regarding the future of the transnational Öresund region was used as a discursive tool to “steer” the societal development in a certain (neoliberal) direction as the same time as the same spatial visions excluded alternative geographies. in human geography I consider myself being a political geographer, primarily interested in how power over territories are articulated, implemented and consolidated. ![]() With a Bachelor in political science and a Ph.D. ![]()
